Beautiful vintage Florentine-style folding triptych featuring a richly colored image of the Madonna kneeling in adoration before the infant Christ. The central devotional image is surrounded by an ornate gilt-finished wooden frame with hand-decorated scrollwork, raised detailing, red floral accents and touches of green. Two hinged side panels fold inward in the traditional triptych form and are decorated with elaborate Renaissance-inspired patterns.

This type of decorative religious artwork was produced in Florence and elsewhere in Italy throughout the 20th century, often using printed Old Master imagery mounted to gilt and gesso-decorated wood. Florentine giltwood devotional icon.

Approximately 7½ inches tall based on the ruler photograph. Weight is approximately 0.255 lb / 4.1 oz. The piece shows age-related wear to the gilding, edges and surfaces, with the mellow patina that gives these older Florentine pieces much of their character.
