Original Art Deco-era hotel advertising ashtray featuring raised “Hotel Pennsylvania” lettering around the rim and an integrated matchbook holder in the center. Finished in a rich teal-blue glaze, this substantial pottery piece is a wonderful survivor from the celebrated Manhattan hotel located across from Pennsylvania Station. It measures approximately 5¼ inches in diameter by 1½ inches tall and weighs 9.6 ounces. In good vintage condition with light surface wear, small glaze irregularities and a few whitish marks consistent with age and hotel use; no obvious chips or cracks are visible in the photographs. A desirable piece of New York City, historic hotel, tobacciana and Art Deco memorabilia that could also be repurposed as a bar accessory or decorative catchall.
