Vintage cast iron spread-wing bird/eagle ornament featuring nicely molded feather detail and a dark aged finish. This substantial little eagle measures approximately 5” across the wings and has a mounting boss with a round hole on the underside/back, indicating that it was originally designed to attach to another object.

Its exact original application is unknown. Pieces of this type may have been used as decorative hardware or finials on items such as a small flag standard or flag holder, gate or fence ornament, lamp, clock, stove or fireplace accessory, sign, furniture, or other architectural/decorative ironwork. It would also make an interesting piece for an Americana collection or could be repurposed in a restoration or creative décor project.

Shows age-related surface wear, oxidation/patina and finish loss consistent with an older cast iron piece. Please review photos carefully for condition and construction. No maker’s mark noted.
