Striking vintage Southeast Asian brass or bronze-tone bell featuring an intricately cast dancing Apsara figure in traditional Khmer/Cambodian style.
The graceful dancer is depicted in an animated ceremonial pose with raised arms, elaborate patterned costume, jewelry and a dramatic floral flame-form headdress. The figure stands atop a flared working bell-form base, making this both a decorative sculpture and bell.
The design is associated with the classical Apsara dancers of Cambodia and the broader artistic traditions of Southeast Asia. Similar dancer bells are often described as Khmer, Cambodian or Thai.
Measures approximately 11 inches tall.
The metal has developed an attractive aged patina with areas of darkening, surface wear and traces of green oxidation consistent with age. Intricate cast decoration remains nicely defined. Please review photographs carefully for condition and details.
A particularly decorative example for a collection of Asian art, bells, Southeast Asian décor, Buddhist/Hindu-inspired objects or eclectic vintage interiors.
