A charming and hefty cast iron Trick Pony mechanical bank, based on the beloved original design patented by Shepard Hardware in 1885. Place a coin in the trough, press the lever, and the pony dips his head to “eat” it into the bank — the same clever mechanism that delighted Victorian-era children. This is a later reproduction casting, likely from the 1970s–80s, with bright original paint in white, red, gold, and teal on a dark brown base embossed with “TRICK PONY” and “BANK.” Solid and substantial in hand, with great display presence. A wonderful piece for collectors of Americana, folk art banks, or vintage toys.
