This is a vintage Wards Master Quality No. 4–size smoothing plane, sold by Montgomery Ward and probably manufactured for them by Stanley. Likely dates from approximately the 1940s–1950s.

It appears complete, with its cutter, cap iron, wooden front knob and rear tote. Condition is unrestored, with surface oxidation, paint wear and a damaged/chipped area on the rear handle. The remaining original Wards label adds interest.
