Charming vintage Goebel West Germany figural hourglass / egg timer featuring two Friar Tuck-style monks standing on either side of a glass sand timer.

The monks are finished in dark brown robes with white rope belts and have wonderfully expressive hand-painted faces. The glass hourglass is suspended between the figures and contains light-colored sand. A classic mid-century Goebel novelty piece with plenty of personality.

Marked on the underside with the blue Goebel mark and “W. Germany.”

Vintage pre-owned condition with age-related wear, crazing and discoloration visible on the ceramic base. There is noticeable brown/orange staining beneath the hourglass area.
