Vintage Japanese Satsuma-style ceramic rocking ink blotter, beautifully decorated with raised floral and geometric motifs in soft green, pink, blue, cream and gilt. An ornate scrolling ceramic handle spans the top, while the curved base was designed to hold blotting paper and rock gently over freshly written ink. An unusual and decorative survivor from the era of fountain pens and handwritten correspondence. Approximately 6¼” long × 3” high and 7.1 oz. Unmarked.
