Charming vintage ceramic pixie or elf figurine shown lying on his stomach while reading an open book. He has a wonderfully expressive hand-painted face, pointed green cap and matching green outfit with curled shoes. The mottled dark-green glaze combined with the unglazed/textured cream-colored face, hands, book and clothing accents gives him a distinctly mid-century look. From the ruler photographs, he measures approximately 6½–7 inches long, about 3 inches wide, and roughly 3 inches high. I do not see a clear manufacturer’s mark in the photographs, so I would list him as unbranded/unknown maker rather than attributing him to Lefton, Homco or another company. Similar green ceramic pixies are commonly dated to the 1950s–1960s. Some age-related glaze/finish wear and small surface marks are visible; photographs should be considered part of the condition description. A terrific piece for a vintage pixie collection, bookshelf display, Christmas décor, fairy-tale vignette or mid-century kitsch collection.
