A beautifully preserved example of mid-century American sporting craftsmanship, this Wilson Imperial wood tennis racket dates to the 1940s–early 1950s and features the distinctive “TAD” monogram associated with Wilson’s Tad Davis line. The throat showcases striking original decorative graphics — gold “Imperial” lettering set within a purple-bordered panel with geometric inlay detailing along the shoulders — all remarkably vivid for its age. The laminated wood frame is solid and straight, stored in its original matching Wilson wooden screw-clamp press, which kept the frame true over the decades. Strings are broken and decorative only. A wonderful display piece for a tennis enthusiast, sports memorabilia collector, or anyone drawn to the elegant design language of pre-war and early postwar American sporting goods.
