This is a Shackman & Co. “Antique Reproduction” 1876 Pattern Bunny stuffed animal kit, still in its original cellophane packaging.
What it is: A DIY cut-and-sew fabric doll kit — printed on muslin/cotton with dashed cut lines, meant to be cut out, stuffed, and sewn into a 14” tall rabbit. The design reproduces a Victorian-era chromolithograph-style rabbit illustration.
About Shackman: B. Shackman & Co. (New York, NY 10003) was a beloved novelty and toy importer/distributor operating from roughly the 1890s through the late 20th century. They were famous for reproductions of antique toys, paper goods, and Victorian-style items — many made in Japan (as this one is). Their products are genuinely collectible today.
Dating this piece: The “Made in Japan” label and Shackman’s NYC address/item number format suggest this is likely 1960s–1980s, probably leaning toward the 1970s.
Condition: Still sealed in original packaging
