Small vintage Persian (Khatam-kari) marquetry trinket box with a domed, chest-shaped lid. Both lid ends feature hand-painted miniature scenes in the Persian style — a mounted horseman with a spear/lance in a landscape with cypress trees and water — bordered by intricate micro-mosaic (khatam) inlay in geometric star and triangle patterns using wood, bone/shell, and brass or metal filament, giving the classic dense mosaic shimmer. Body bands continue the geometric khatam inlay in green, cream, and rust tones with gold metallic accents. Interior is lined in red velvet/felt. Approx. 4” wide (measured).

AS IS — condition consistent with age: light surface wear and a couple of small edge/veneer chips to the inlay as shown in photos (see close-ups), a bit of glue/finish residue near one seam, tiny wood exposure at a corner where marquetry has lifted slightly. Structurally solid, hinge and closure intact.
