Charming vintage German wall clock featuring a cobalt-blue transfer-decorated Dutch coastal scene with a windmill, sailboats, fishermen, traditional figures, clouds and birds. The round, slightly domed clock body measures approximately 8 inches in diameter, or about 9 inches including the upper hanging finial. “GERMANY” appears beneath the numeral six. The decorative case and dial likely date to approximately the 1930s–1940s and originally held a mechanical wind-up movement; it has since been fitted with a modern Tochigi Tokei battery-operated quartz movement. This makes it easier to use while preserving the appealing period face. The blue-and-white surface shows scattered age-related discoloration, spotting and wear, with additional wear on the black-painted reverse. Please review photographs for condition. Identification: German-made Delft-style clock—not true Dutch Delft pottery. It appears to be porcelain-enamel over metal rather than ceramic.
