Charming vintage hand-carved wooden balancing figure featuring a gentleman in a hat seated above a pedestal with a curved wooden balancing arm and weighted balls at each end. The articulated construction allows the figure and weighted bar to balance and move, giving the piece a wonderful folk-art or kinetic-toy quality. Measures approximately 7 1/2–8 inches tall and roughly 6 inches across at the widest point. Warm aged wood finish with visible hand-carved details throughout. Condition note: one shoulder/upper arm area is damaged with a noticeable chip/loss, as clearly shown in the photographs. There is also expected surface wear, scuffs and age-related patina. Still displays very nicely and has loads of character. Maker and exact origin are unknown.
