A charming antique American semi-vitreous pottery salad bowl dating to circa 1900–1915, marked “Gooseberry Salad No. 16 / Imperial China” with a triangle maker’s mark on the reverse. The 12-sided (dodecagonal) form features a rich cobalt blue border shading to a cream white interior, decorated at center with a polychrome transfer-printed spray of ripe raspberries and leaves. Gold scrollwork and dot motifs accent the blue rim.
The bowl displays pronounced crazing throughout — entirely expected and characteristic of this earthenware body at this age. There is a small chip on the underside/back rim. The display face and interior are free of chips or cracks, making this a presentable piece for display or decorative use.
