Wonderful early miniature electric lantern made by Bond Electric Corporation, marked “PLA-MATE” on the top. These small battery-operated lanterns were produced as portable personal lights and are often described as skaters’ lanterns or miniature camping lanterns. Period examples were made with several colored globes; the red version is especially attractive for display. A collector reference identifies the red-globe Pla-Mate as a Bond miniature lantern designed to operate on a single C-cell battery.
*Made in NJ, the handle that turns it on is missing.
