DESCRIPTION:
Charming mid-century chalkware (plaster composite) vase styled as a faux bois tree stump, featuring a doe and fawn nestled against the base with a cluster of berries or acorns and leafy scrollwork. Finished in matte black with gold/bronze highlights picked out on the antlers, ears, hooves, tree rings, and berry cluster — classic 1950s-60s decorative sculpture styling. Functions as a vase or planter, with a hollow opening at the top (approx. 2.75-3” diameter). Solid, substantial weight at 2 lb 4.6 oz. No maker’s mark visible on the piece as photographed. Wear is consistent with age: some rubbing/loss to the gold highlights along raised edges, light surface scuffing to the black finish, and a small chip at the front rim of the opening (visible in photos). AS IS, sold as found.
